Home Cures For Heartburn – A Natural Way To Treat Heartburn
Although conventional over-the-counter medicines are still very popular as heartburn treatments, more and more people these days are realizing the benefits of using certain home cures for heartburn. For starters, these home cures are usually much cheaper than any pill you can buy in your local pharmacy. Also, studies show that home cures for heartburn result in far less side effects, if any at all, than conventional heartburn medications.
Different Types of Home Remedies for Heartburn
Quite surprisingly, the most effective home cures for heartburn are very simple and do not even seem like treatment procedures at all. For instance, one way of effectively stopping heartburn is to just chew about 6 almonds daily, taking care to keep your mouth closed while chewing. If people didn’t know you were doing it to stop heartburn, they would think that you were just having a snack.
If you are already experiencing heartburn pains and want them to stop, all you have to do is eat a teaspoon of yellow mustard and lie down on your left side. This will let the contents of your stomach settle and prevent it from flowing back up into your esophagus.
Other foods that can help quell the pains of heartburn are ice cream or chilled pie plant. However, these home cures for heartburn may not always be the best solution for chronic cases. They are great for providing temporary relief but are not always good as long-term solutions.
If you already know that you are prone to heartburn after meals, you can prevent it from happening by eating a couple of soda crackers at the end of the meal. Heartburn occurs when the stomach acids rise up into the esophagus when you are full. By eating soda crackers, you can stop this from happening because the crackers will be able to absorb the excess acids before they have a chance to backflow.
It is also a good idea to refrain from eating citrus fruits and other acidic foods until your heartburn is completely cured. Instead, you may want to consume more foods that are capable of stabilizing the stomach acids, such as yogurt, papaya, cabbage juice and buttermilk.
Other popular and effective home cures for heartburn include the regular consumption of herbal teas such as ginger, cinnamon or sage. These beverages contain substances that can prevent the overproduction of stomach acids. They can also help boost your metabolism and digestion, reducing the risk of suffering the pain of heartburn and other digestive problems.
